As part of its commitment to supporting employees' purchasing power, WES has increased salaries by 7% to help offset the impact of inflation in 2022.
According to a study published in August 2022 by the consulting firm Mercer, French companies allocated an average salary increase budget of 2.8%. In many cases, this level of increase is insufficient when inflation continues to erode household income.
Against this backdrop, WES decided to increase employee salaries in order to help counter the effects of inflation. This salary adjustment is intended to strengthen purchasing power and, consequently, employee well-being and motivation.
Since April 2022, price increases accelerated once again in May, reaching 5.2% year-on-year, the highest level recorded since 1985. This rise has had a direct impact on household purchasing power, which declined by 1.9%, and inflationary pressures were expected to continue increasing.
As a result, French households were expected to spend an additional €90 per month on average to absorb the overall rise in consumer prices.
